Shopping search engine upgrades its sites to better display 230 million deals from over 100,000 retailers

London, 22nd April 2010 – On Twenga, the new-generation shopping search engine, the number of shopping offers recently leaped to over 230 million products from more than 100,000 retailers. To illustrate Twenga’s amazing scale: a physical store with as many products would cover an area the size of Plymouth. So Twenga continues the rapid growth that has taken it to 14 countries in just three years, and propelled it to 14th place among price comparison sites (source : comScore, January 2010)

“Thanks to our technology, we are able to progressively index all online retailers. We are well on the way to achieving our objective of being the most comprehensive shopping search engine on the internet.” says Bastien Duclaux,Director and co-founder of Twenga. “We give users a range of choice that reflects the virtually infinite choice of the online world.”

To help users easily take advantage of this huge range, Twenga has radically simplified its sites.

“Twenga means ‘straight to the point’,” explains Gaël de Talhouet, VP Marketing at Twenga. “We’ve simplified our site navigation to help users easily find the product they want at the best price among the millions of deals from our retailers. We’ve put in a navigation bar to directly access multiple search criteria, and highlighted useful content such as bestsellers by category. For example, to buy a set of garden furniture, the user can straight away find the material and colour they want from among the 4,452 products from 137 shops.”

Laguna Nigel – California, 15 January 2010 - Twenga, the most comprehensive shopping search engine, has received the Red Herring 100 Global Award, awarded to the top 100 private technology companies worldwide.

Twenga is able to display almost 10 times more product offers than other price comparison sites thanks to its proprietary technology automatically indexing retailer sites, and thus guaranteeing that users really find the best deal.

In awarding this prize, the Red Herring media group carefully considered 1,200 private companies, chosen from among the finalists and winners of the regional awards Red Herring 100 Asia, Europe and North America from the last three years. Criteria included financial performance, management quality, delivery on strategy and involvement in research and development. For this global prize, the judges paid particular attention to strategies and the ability to establish an international presence.

“This year was especially difficult,” said Alex Vieux, publisher and CEO of Red Herring. “Despite the global economic situation, there were many great companies producing really innovative and amazing products that we had a difficult time narrowing the pool and selecting the finalists. Now we’re faced with the arduous task of selecting the final 100 winners of the award. We know that this year’s crop will grow into some amazing companies that are sure to go far.”

Bastien Duclaux, CEO and co-founder of Twenga said,
“We would like to thank the Red Herring Global Award judges for recognising the worldwide success of Twenga with this global award. Twenga was designed as a global company from its inception. Thanks to our pioneering technology, we have succeeded in establishing our shopping search engine in 14 countries across four continents in less than three years. This is four times faster than our competitors. We offer users greater choice, and a more objective choice. We offer retailers better return on marketing investment.”
